Langston High School Continuation Program offers students an alternative pathway to earning a high school diploma while meeting the same course requirements, credit expectations, and SOL assessment verifications as students in traditional comprehensive high schools. We provide flexibility in how and when students complete their high school education tailored to their unique needs.
Key Program Highlights:
- Flexible Scheduling: Langston operates on a two-semester system, allowing students to take between one and four classes per semester. This structure allows students to earn up to eight credits per year, facilitating opportunities for early graduation or credit recovery. The program celebrates two graduating classes annually—in January and June.
- Age Requirements: students must be at least 15 years of age and have reached at least the tenth grade in school.
- Dual Graduation Opportunities: Langston graduates receive their homeschool diploma and can participate in both their homeschool graduation ceremony and Langston’s graduation in June.
- Online Learning Options: Eligible students can enroll in online courses based on their graduation requirements and schedule flexibility.
- Small Class Sizes & Personalized Learning: Langston’s small program size fosters individualized attention, with small classes, a flexible block schedule, and concurrent enrollment options for students to attend Career Center classes or homeschool electives when schedules allow.
- Support for SOL Assessments: Students who meet course credit requirements but have not passed their SOL assessments have alternative options. These include targeted remediation through one-on-one sessions, RISE classes, or alternate assessments to meet graduation criteria without retaking full courses.
How to Transfer to Langston: Students currently enrolled in Wakefield, Washington-Liberty, Yorktown, or other Arlington Public Schools (APS) programs must be referred by their homeschool counselor or administrator to transfer to Langston.
